The Division of Biological Sciences (BSD) at The University of Chicago is committed to fostering diversity in the scientific

Minority Graduate Students

training of students. We strongly encourage minority students to consider the graduate programs offered in many areas of Biological Sciences at The University of Chicago. Our faculty are committed to tailoring each student's Ph.D. program to maximize his/her potential and achieve his/her career goal.

Diversity Statement

One of the unique aspects of graduate study in the Biological Sciences is the interaction between advanced and incoming graduate students. Our current students have endeavored to spread this sense of community by developing a program to inform interested undergraduates about the exciting possibilities that a career in research offers.

The Division of Biological Sciences sponsors and funds student participation in national professional meetings, such as Minority Access to Research Careers (MARC); the Society for Advancement of Chicanos and Native Americans in Science (SACNAS). Our students have presented their research and received prizes at these national meetings.where they have the opportunity  to make professional as well as personal connections.
